What we do
Stonework is where LF Builders made its name. Interlock pathways, flagstone patios, steps, driveways and retaining walls, over five decades and thousands of installations across the GTA, we've learned exactly what our freeze-thaw cycles do to a poorly built base.
That's why we're fanatics about what's underneath: excavation depth, granular base compaction, bedding layer, edge restraint, polymeric sand. Get the base right and stone lasts decades. Get it wrong and you're calling someone like us in three winters to lift and relay it, which, by the way, we also do.
Recent stonework includes a 1,200 sq ft interlock driveway and walkway in Aurora Highlands, a random-pattern flagstone patio with armour-stone steps in King City, and a full lift-and-relay rescue of a five-year-old driveway in Newmarket's Summerhill.

Frequently asked questions
How much does interlock cost in the GTA?
Most interlock installations run $18–$35 per square foot installed depending on stone choice and site access; natural flagstone runs higher. Lift-and-relay of existing stone costs roughly half of new. Every quote itemizes stone, base and labour.
Why did my last interlock job sink?
Almost always the base: too shallow an excavation or poor compaction. GTA clay soil plus freeze-thaw is brutal on shortcuts. We excavate to proper depth and compact in lifts, it's the least glamorous, most important part of the job.
Flagstone or interlock, which should I pick?
Flagstone gives a natural, premium look and is beautiful for patios and garden paths. Interlock is more uniform, takes vehicle weight better and is easier to repair. We often combine them, interlock driveway, flagstone path and step caps.
Can you fix my existing patio instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the stone is sound, we lift it, rebuild the base, and relay your own material with fresh joint sand. It's a fraction of new and we'll tell you honestly which way makes sense.
When can stonework be done?
April through early December in a typical GTA season. Spring books up fast, winter quotes get first pick of the schedule.
Do you handle drainage?
Always. Every patio and driveway we build is graded to move water away from your foundation, we're a waterproofing company too, so we take that personally.
